Disasteroids II

Overview

Disasteroids II is a fast-paced, modern adaptation of the classic Asteroids™ arcade game. In this version, you must pilot your trusty Mk 59 "Astro-Smasher" and completely clear 40 different asteroid fields around the planet Dina IV while staving off the onslaught of the insidious Saud Empire.

NOTE: If running Windows XP, you'll need to disable 'sticky keys' feature to play the game as Disasteroids II was originally developed on Windows 95, which doesn't invoke 'sticky keys' when pressing the Shift key and I've been too lazy to fix it.

• Runs on any Pentium (233 Mhz or better) based PC running Windows® 95, 98, NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and XP with at least 64 megs of RAM. Vista® compatibility has not been tested or verified - nor do I care because it sucks.
• Offers 40 different game levels. All aspects of gameplay are randomized. No two games are ever alike.
• Hand-drawn (not rendered), high-quality 2D sprites and animation.
• Realistic outer space ship movement that includes inertia.
• Destroy 11 types of asteroids (normal space "rocks" and a special asteroid made from dense alloys).
• Battle Saud scout ships, battle saucers, minelayers, satellites, cargo shuttles and contact mines.
• Collect and use four types of weapons: single shot, rapid fire, 3-way fire and mega cannon as well as defensive shields, bonus items and extra lives.
• Includes tons of digital sound effects.
• Offers the ability to save your high scores for posterity.
• Doesn't require Administrator privileges to install (yea!), which means that you can install it on your work PC! It also un-installs itself easily and safely in case those pesky IT people poke around your computer.
• It's completely free!
• Contains no advertisements or Spyware.
